The Watersports Academy’s RYA training centre is located at the harbour’s edge and provides not only first-class tuition but changing facilities with hot showers!
Our RYA qualified instructors will build your skills, whether you are a complete beginner, or just require a “refresher” – enabling you to master the essentials of sailing and gain the knowledge and experience these internationally recognised courses provide.
All sessions include the use of our onsite changing facilities, lockers and hot showers.
RYA Adult Courses
Including tuition, hire of dinghy sailing boat, life jacket and wetsuit.
Sailing Lesson 2 hours £65pp | Extra person £10pp
Sail with an instructor who will help you understand how the boat sails and teach you the fundamentals of sailing.
Private Lesson 2 hours | £85pp
One-to-one tuition lessons are tailored solely to your needs, it’s sometimes easier to be taught at your pace dedicating time to your particular sailing requirements.

Double Hander £35 per hour | Maximum 4 people per boat
Whether you want to practice your new-found skills or take the children for a sail, our sailing area is large and safe and you can relax knowing there is a safety boat always on hand.
RYA Adult Courses

Whether you are a complete beginner or have forgotten previous lessons then this is the course for you. Over the two days your RYA instructor will build your skills to enable you to sail dinghies solo with confidence.
We will also aim to give you the opportunity to team up with others on your course in our two-man boats.
Once you have got to grips with the fundamentals of sailing the Basic Skills Course is the next step towards mastering true sailing performance. The aim of the course is to coach you and the techniques to give you the best sailing. You will start to master the five essentials of sailing correctly: sail setting, centre board setting, boat balance, boat trim and best course of sail. You will also learn the basics of racing, man overboard recovery and picking up a mooring.
